Baby Steps in Blog Creation

Today I decided to figure out how to change the background of my blog. After going to Blogger Help, I managed to end up at "Tips from a TYPICAL Mom.” Her page had 5 tutorials with the beginner blogger in mind. She guided me to “The Cutest Blog on the Block” site where I was able to choose a free background and successfully copy and paste it into my layout. What a feeling of accomplishment that was! I am now beginning to actually feel like there may be a little bit of hope for me if I will continue to persevere. I have a long ways to go, but I’ve certainly taken my first baby steps this weekend. Now it is back to work tomorrow. Here’s hoping we get NO MORE SNOW this week! I am ready for spring.

Saturdays Are Wonderful!

For me, Saturday means no school and no students...a day to do whatever I so desire. Today I just stayed at home sewing all day. What fun! Yesterday I saw on poketypatch some directions for making St Patrick’s Day coasters, so I decided to give them a try. From my stash I selected 8 green prints - 4 for the 4 coasters and another 4 for the shamrocks. They were machine appliqued with the applique stitch ( it looks like a blanket stitch to me) on my Brother XR 7700 Computerized LCD sewing machine. The sandwich started out with 2- 5 inch charm squares for the top and bottom and a piece of cotton Heritage batting for the center. It did not take much time at all to complete the little project. Then I decided to make one of my little “goodie bags" in which to place the coasters along with a book entitled “The All of It” which can be purchased from Amazon. It is one of my all time favorite quick reads. The book is set in Ireland so lends itself to a great St. Patrick’s Day gift. I used 4 charm squares for the bag front and some left over green fleece for the back. For the ties I used white gross grain ribbon. I am a LOVER of buttons so I added a few from my collection.

My First Post

Never in my wildest imagination would I have thought creating a blog would be so difficult.....and I thought I was pretty computer literate. It has been hunt and peck/touch and go from the start. Just to get this far has taken all the patience and perseverance I could muster. Hopefully, as time goes on, it will all begin to make sense. For now, though, I must keep telling myself to be patient and not become discouraged.
